Now Miss Thing is back to work with the release of CHAMPION, a brand new album inspired by LOGO's new reality TV series RUPAUL's DRAG RACE.
The album is a sassy bouquet of rump shakers written and produced by RuPaul and Lucian Piane, the mastermind behind the viral smash BALE OUT - RevoLucian's Christian Bale Remix.
The first single COVER GIRL serves as the runway music on each episode of the television show. I feel ecstatically proud of this collection of songs that echoes a new spirit of hope and optimism that has swept our country.
From the undeniably infectious JEALOUS OF MY BOOGIE, DEVIL MADE ME DO IT and DESTINY IS MINE to the retro-disco inspired MAIN EVENT to the drag queen anthems TRANNY CHASER and LADYBOY, this album is designed to get the party started. The entire album is upbeat, even the more heartfelt songs like LET S TURN THE NIGHT and NEVER GO HOME AGAIN aren't shy when it comes to the beats per minute.
The album also features THROW YA HANDS UP a bonus duet with legendary drag queen Lady Bunny. I wanted to top this album off with something really special, as a keepsake for all the up and coming fabulous children, says RuPaul.

RuPaul is one of those people whom I've always been peripherally aware of, but didn't really start paying much attention to until recently, when I caught a random episode of Drag Race on television. He's a total riot and someone I imagine being really cool to hang out with, so just for fun I splurged on his latest CD, Champion, having only heard one song prior - the infectious booty-shaker Jealous of My Boogie. That was all the incentive I needed.
While some of the tunes flirt with the generic, thumping 90's club sounds from the likes of C&C Music Factory or Real McCoy (which isn't necessarily a bad thing, mind you), Champion is overall very much on the cutting edge of modern electronica and at least 10 of the 12 tracks rely on auto-tuning and electric voice altering. Cher plus Madonna, times ten, equals RuPaul, lol. I personally love it, but I can also see how someone not into that kind of music to begin might be completely repulsed. Again, not necessarily a bad thing. Just a heads up.
Not only is the disc high energy from start to finish, the lyrics are very positive and uplifting. The general theme seems to be one of self-acceptance, positive thinking, being true to yourself and just having fun. A number of songs stick out as my favorites, such as LadyBoy, which I dare anyone not to hum along with, and the catchy, attitude-driven Jealous of My Boogie which I mentioned above. Never Go Home Again is a poignant story a lot of gay, lesbian, and transgender youths can relate to, and probably the closest thing to a ballad on this CD. (Though I would definitely not define this as just a "gay" CD.) Interestingly enough, Tranny Chaser, the song with the most awesome title, is probably my least favorite. It's a little too hip-hoppy for my taste and seems out of place among all the other fast electronica songs, but even that's kind of fun if you're in a campy sort of mood. So for anyone who ever felt out of place, alone, or ugly, I would recommend this CD, because it's sure to bring a smile to your face. May the fierce be with you!

This is hands down on of the best dance cds of the year. RuPaul has outdone herself with these catchy, booty-shakin', dancefloor-quakin' hits. All of the tracks are great....well done, Ru!

I was shocked when i heard it i listened to the entire thing without taking a break and every second loving it wow i havent heard any of his other cds but im definetly buying them he is amazing and obviously a great singer wow. that is all i can say is it is perfection and candy to the ears.

I have to say that I have been a Rupaul fan for quite a while. She has been there and done that. At this point in her career she could get by with a mediocore effort and call it a day. Instead, she has put out a CD that is at its core a finely crafted pop/dance gem. The more I listen to this CD, the more I hear. As she sings "Dont be jelous of my boogie", I am, I really am. I love this song. This is a great collection of fun, infectious songs that will keep you humming all day or dancing all night. Rupal has again amazed me with her talent. What a great singer and performer.
