Red Words Bleed Frustration
Customer Rating: 5 out of 5
Little Daggers does not disappoint. Emmich always finds ways to mesh up melodies enough, but still make them enjoyable and flowing throughout the album. A great mix of production and acoustic is on this album. More classic instruments- trumpet, viola, trombone, sax- come alive. Many of the people who accompany Emmich on the album are people he has been with in the band or known for a very long time. Keepin' it at home but still just as real. I personally like the harder and faster beats in some of the songs. McGarry would probably concur.

Wake Up Brand New is my personal favorite. I love the bright, lush melody, background rockin' beats, rockin' guitar/bass (?) and piano riffs, and catchy lyrics of Wake Up Brand New. There's something edgy about the entire song with the lyrics and tune. I've "woken up" recently by obsessing more on my passions and work, and ignoring social situations that were never under my control to begin with. Sometimes when you feel like everything else around you is going down and there's nothing more you can do about it, it's best just to let it all go and move on. I think that song could send this message or similar ones that may be more romantically related.

Catalyst features the keyboard and trumpet mixed in with enough production that it doesn't sound totally raw, but it does a bit. The upbeat Got a Habit Now (not listed on this ad, but track 3 on the album) deals with alcohol, Get On With It, containing the title track phrase piercing the theme of the album, could be about quickening the process of breaking up, there are various other songs about love and hope. Darling Denise is about loving a girl that was probably not meant to be- I think we've all been there! Too Far is simply about taking an issue too far- it could be a joke, romance, or something of the like. We Still Bleed sounds a bit countryish and includes some whistling. Think of the Woodstock album.

When the album is officially released in September 23, 2008, (date may be subject to change) please buy that actual copy, as albums with holes in them or that say "demo" do not help out the band. The single, Get On With It, is available on iTunes right now. We are the Lucky Ones when we buy this album!
