I just returned this radio to C.Crane as defective. This radio is so close but never is just right that it''s very frustrating to own and use. I'm very disappointed that it's just a bad deal overall. This radio is...."All hat and no Cattle" to be sure.

Overall I am very happy with this radio. I live in Wisconsin and I am able to pick up stations from Canada to Kentucky and from Iowa to New York. My main use for it is at night in bed to listen to talk radio, baseball games and in general to kill time during those nights of insomnia.
The reception is pretty much exactly what I had hoped it would be, especially AM. The fine tuning dial is a real plus in nailing down the frequency. It is light weight but a bit on the large side for walks if you are not wearing a jacket. It will comfortably fit into a coat pocket or larger shirt pocket.
The most common complaint is the volume control because you only get four levels. I personally don't have any problem with it. The lowest is a bit too quiet but when you are wearing head phones it's not so bad. For me my biggest complaint would be that the buttons are a bit small and hard to navigate in the dark. When you want to manually recall your pre-sets you have to punch in three digits. However it also has a "Favorites" button where you can navigate up or down to your favorite stations so you don't have to worry about the three digits. You get 200 presets but I find I only use about 12 so that seems like a bit of overkill to me.
The sleep and alarm clock functions are very handy for traveling. I occasionally use the speaker which reminds me of my old transistor radio from the 60's but I actually find that appealing. It sounds clear and that's good enough for me.
I'm not real familiar with shortwave but I'm looking forward to playing around with it.
I feel that at $40, this was a great buy for those of us who love AM radio. I will not hesitate to recommend it to a friend.

this is the worst radio that I have ever owned. It does not pick up any SW stations, the volume control is not continous. Even the AM reception is poor. I libe in Salt Lake City Area and this radio will not pick up any stations more than 50 miles away. Battery life is extremely short. My similar size Grundigs and Etons have a battery life of at least three times greater and will pick up stations from Europe and South America easily. It has a 200 station memory, but what good is that if all you get is local stations. Also, I have read the inadequate manual and can not find any way to delete a "memorized" station. I am planning to send this #@#& back to Crane. Buy a good Eton or Grundig.

| Review of CC SWPocket AM/FM Pocket Shortwave Radio |

It is nice that you want me to review your product. The CC SWPocket AM/FM Pocket Shortwave Radio radio has many nice features.
The reason I purchased the radio is because my main needs/wants are as follows:
1. I needed a small radio.
2. I needed one with a sleep timer to put under my pillow at night.
3. I wanted one with a station scanner.
4. I wanted one with ear buds capability.
5. I wanted one with AM/FM capability.
All of the above items were on this radio.
Dislikes:
1. The volume buttons are too small.
2. The volume buttons are too hard to push to change the volume.
2. The volume buttons are placed in a good position so as to find them without looking, BUT being so small, too hard to push and too close together it is difficult to use.
3. A rotary volume control would be better.
4. When turning on the radio the timer alarm feature is nice, but it is too loud.
Therefore, the dislike of the volume buttons is the reason I am going to return the radio.
Also, I think your advertising of a "Pocket Radio" is misleading. We don't have any pockets that the radio would fit into.
However, that is not the reason for returning the radio.
Suggestion, you might want to design a radio that a sightless person could use. If you know of one, please let me know.
Also, PLEASE do not sell or give my name or my email address to anyone.

This radio has a lot of nice features like a clock, alarm clock, and sleep timer. The
presets are handy too. I am getting at least 70 hours off of the 2AA batteries.
Don't expect too much from the shortwave band. The few stations that come in have poor
reception and don't always come in. If you really need the shortwave feature, buy a unit
with a stronger antenna.
