Andy Bell lets us in to his world of dance floor pop bliss with his solo album debut, Electric Blue.

Electric Blue features 14 brand new tracks, including two duets with Claudia Brucken (of Propaganda and Act) and Jake Shears (of Scissor Sisters), and encompasses a variety of musical genres.

Electric Blue was co-written and recorded throughout 2004 and 2005 with Manhattan Clique (Philip Larsen & Chris Smith) who, as well as Erasure, have also worked with Moby, The B-52’s, Stereophonics and Goldfrapp in recent months.

The first single "Crazy" will be available on three formats, with club remixes from Erasure partner Vince Clarke, plus Cicada (Electric 6, New Order), Manhattan Clique, MHC and King Roc.

Even better than Erasure!!!
Customer Rating: 5 out of 5
Outstanding music & catchy tunes. I shook my grove thang through the entire album. Andy Bell is just as good if not better solo!

In Love with this album!
Customer Rating: 5 out of 5
I love Erasure and have since I first heard them when I was 18. I have all their albums and until this one, the self-titled Erasure album was my favorite. What passion in Andy Bell's solo album. I love all the songs and they put me right into his world, which is full of love, lust and excitement! I would say this album, along with Marc Almond's Enchanted, are my very favorites. There is a passion and a soul to these albums, not to mention a depth that is profound. I love this album where Andy freely sings of making it with a man. I love its freeness and openness about being gay. It's about time! I love to dance and this is one of the best albums to dance to. I am a shy stay-at-home mom and have never been to a dance club, but this album puts me there in my mind. This is the music to feed my soul and stir my passions! Andy Bell really does it for me here. I confess he makes me long to be a gay man at times.

Through the Dancefloor

Never having heard Erasure, I arrived at "Electric Blue" without preconception. Speculation by other reviewers about how Bell's announcement that he's HIV-positive affected the slower pace of Erasure's "Nightbird" CD has been contrasted with the upbeat techno dance music on this disc. I have three favorite tracks and a couple near favorites from this set. "Crazy" laces a strong steady dance beat with some powerful Bell vocals, "He never told a lie & if you're sweet tonight, I'll have an alibi cause my desire is running down a city street." "Shaking My Soul" marries a soul groove with a dance beat and produces an addictive blend with Bell's vocals powering the package, "Starting to drive my soul now down to the ground and through the dancefloor." "See the Lights Go Out" is also an addictive mix of techno beat with emotionally powerful lyric making the track seem like a reprise from "Flashdance," "I thought that I was going nowhere until the day you walked into my life with a will to survive." "Jealous" & "Delicious" are also excellent. Bell is joined by Propaganda's Claudia Brucken and Scissor Sister Jake Shears on several tracks. "Electric Blue" provides many stunning moments. Enjoy!
