A load of divas-begins soulful, gets harder and more peak hour
Customer Rating: 4 out of 5
David Knapp is a master at mixing peak hour discs--but this one has a few annoyances. A soulful dub of Loleatta is a real odd way to open this disc-it seems to promise sheer boredom. Things aren't much better with a 2001 funky soul house mix of the once brilliant hardhouse Giselle Jackson song "Love Commandments". (She isn't even listed as the artist on the disc, but it is her original vocal). Then, out of nowhere, this party STARTS! Warren Rigg mixes diva Lonnie Gordon's version of the gorgeous song from Lion King to peak hour perfection. Sadly, Junior's Sunday Morning Mix of Vernessa Mitchell is not the best mix out there (Chad Jack's mix is the best), but it's okay. Mindtrap brings back the peak hour madness with this mix of Loni Clark's classic Rushin. And you get over eleven minutes of it! Celeda does her usual tribal diva vocal thing. There's a catchy but typically repetitive full intention mix of Ultra Nate before a powerhouse mix of DJ Escape by Guido, with Plasmic Honey mixing Pat Hodges to keep the energy going strong with another near full length mix, clocking in at over 8 minutes. The hard dub of Razor n Guido's dancefloor is an interesting way to end the disc. It's actually a nice change from the vocal mix, which has been on many compilations. Overall, a hot diva mix, but it falls on shaky ground by throwing in a few softer house tracks that just don't keep up the energy. Track times:

1. what goes around comes around (7:21)
2. Love commandments (6:24)
3. He lives in you (8:13)
4. Trouble don't last always (6:38)
5. rushing (11:28)
6. let the music use you up (7:31)
7. Get it up (6:45)
8. music takes me higher (6:45)
9. you make me feel good (8:19)
10. dancefloor (5:16)
