DVD Paramount Publisher: Paramount Frank Mancuso Jr. Format: Anamorphic, Closed-captioned, Color, DVD, Full Screen, Widescreen, NTSC Actors: Erich Anderson, Judie Aronson, Kimberly Beck, Corey Feldman, Barbara Howard Having been revived at the hospital jason returns to crystal lake to meet more victims. Studio: Paramount Home Video Release Date: 08/22/2006 Starring: Kimberly Beck Wayne Grace Run time: 91 minutes Rating: R Director: Joseph Zito Amateur butcher and enthusiastic hockey fan Jason Vorhees is back in business, and business is good. Can a plucky young boy stop the madness before Camp Crystal Lake's population report takes yet another machete-aided dip? The stalk-and-slash formula was pretty narcoleptic by this point, but this otherwise humdrum entry is distinguished by some unusual casting choices (Crispin Glover as a stud in training? Corey Feldman as a genius?) and the splattery return of makeup master Tom Savini. The fact that this installment was titled The Final Chapter may seem to contradict the existence of the numerous sequels that followed, but it's not as if logic was ever this series' strong point to begin with. --Andrew Wright

I am writing reviews for each of the Friday the 13th, but I own the box set and the older releases of the later two. The reviews are for those editions not the newer deluxe editions.
With a bigger budget, this "Friday" installment has a better cast and FX. This film also marks the first time we get a good look at the adult Jason without his mask! The ending is memorable in this one, but the title is misleading.....the final chapter?....I think not!
The DVD transfer is very good and there are some cool extras on the box set.

Just like part 3 this is a really good sequel in the Friday the 13th series. And actually not just another exact copy of part 1. Jason terrorises a group of teenage friends staying near the now closed down Camp Crystal Lake as well as a family living across the street from the unlucky teens. Corey Feldman stars in an early role as the 12 year old son of the family who is eventually left to defend himself against Jason, along with the traditional Last Girl (called so becuase these movies tend to start with a group of living teenagers and end with a group of dead teenagers and one living teenager, usually female) by the end. Like part 3 there is a pretty suspencefull chase scene in near the end. I think Jason looks really freaky in this one when he is unmasked.
Probably the best of the sequels so far.

So it's more than obvious that this is not the last installment in the long running slasher series. "So if it isn't the last...Why did they say it was?" simple, to make more profit. After part 3's success (which was primarily due to the 3-D effects) the creator decided to find other means to gather audience to watch one more Jason movie. Even if this movie was meant to be the last, there really isn't anything new...This is literally the same exact thing as part 1-3. The same stupid kids come to have a good time, they have premarital sex, smoke weed, and of course how can we forget our beloved Jason who finds the best time to kill them.
Like the previous this sequel takes place the following day after the events of part 3. The bodies of the unlucky ones are being sent to a morgue. Along with the bodies is Jason, who as you thought right, is not dead. The movie is surprisingly more violent than the previous ones, especially the ending where they kill Jason for good...of course until they re-vive him in part 6. The sequel has one or two important moments; such as the brother of Sondra (character from part 2) he is hunting Jason, and he knows everything there is to know about him. Second important scene is a little background on Jason...Nothing we didn't know, but still interesting to see.
Body Count: 13
Violent Level: 4-Very Gory
MY PERSONAL RATING: 2 ½ OUT OF 5
