Cher's recording career has long taken a back seat to her acting pursuits, but with Believe she's back with a vengeance as a throbbing disco diva. Although no fewer than five producers with dance pedigrees are along for the project (including Todd Terry, Junior Vasquez of Madonna fame, and Rob Dickins, who helped resurrect Rod Stewart's ailing career), this is by no means a dance album in the '90s trip-hop sense of the term. Rather, it's a tour de force that summons mid-'70s images of strobe-lighted dance floors, sequined miniskirts, and writhing bodies. In "Power," Cher wails, "Ain't nothing changed much through the years." Not a bad thing in this case, since Cher's star was still rising in the steamy '70s and '80s with a string of hits that included the disco gem "Take Me Home" and the haunting "If I Could Turn Back Time." Although not blessed with much vocal range, Cher knows how to work a song with her trademark sultry, slightly ironic delivery. And she's certainly in fine form on the masterful title track, which is marred only by the intrusive, anachronistic wah-wah vocal effect. --Jaan Uhelszki

Cher's interests include talking about politics, most recently supporting Hillary Clinton for President, Senator Hillary Clinton went on to earn more votes than any of her rivals, and more votes than any Presidential Primary candidate in the history of America.

Yes!

If you want to turn a Cher fan ,buy this first .
This album turned me a Cher fan !!! It's amazing!

Here's my review of each song , rated and with comments :

BELIEVE : A powerful song , that made history around the world , to date is it very known. It's very pop and gay indeed lol ! 5 / 5

THE POWER : Not danceable as BELIEVE but it's a good song to dance slow. I love it. It got something that you will feel in your heartbeat . I guess is one of the best slow tracks of her , but it's not a ballad but not a fast song ;) !! 4 / 5

RUNAWAY : My cher's favourite song !! 100% Electronica with Pop! I love it! It's like a dark song that would change the future! One of the best produced song ever! Love it !! 5 / 5

ALL OR NOTHING : Another great song as BELIEVE and RUNAWAY ! Very danceful ! I love it ! It got some gay beat but very pop ! I love it :p The lyrics are very matched to the song. One of my faves 5 / 5

STRONG ENOUGH : Like an himn ! I love it ! The song that when I listen it , I can't stop listening it! It's catchy and lovely ^^ 5 / 5

DOVE LMORE : I hope it writes like tha lol ! Wow , a flamenco-pop-r&b style song :p Love it! You would dance it until you die! It's perfect to dance at nights with your boyfriend ^^ 5 / 5

TAKIN' BACK MY HEART : I can say that this song it's like a second part of the song THE POWER . Very similar but very nice ! I love it. It's not fast as the most of the album's song but it is at least exellent for nights 3,5 / 5

TAXI TAXI : I guess it's like an 80 song recorded in 1998 . I love it. But there is a intrumentation very boring at the beggining but it's nice when the chorus take part . 4 / 5

LOVE IS THE GROOVE : The worst song of Cher! I don't like it , so I think it won't be useful to me to talk about it ;) Just boring but it's not so bad , but she has better ;) 2 / 5

WE ALL SLEEP ALONE (Remix) : I thought this was the original song lol! Love it! The remix is such good as the original! You will love it :p
5 / 5

YOU WILL LOVE THIS ALBUM !

A deserved triumph

It is not a mystery why this disc was as successful as it became. Nine years after its initial release, the songs sound as fresh and enticing as they did when I first listened to it. The program is full of pulsating dance numbers: "Believe," "Strong Enough," "All Or Nothing." Cher reworks one of her moderate hits from the late 1980s, "We All Sleep Alone," into a beat-driven disco song. And "Dov'e L'Amore" is a song reminiscent of her Snuff Garrett days, appropriately modernized.

Cher's continuing ability to realign herself in center stage after a period of relative dormancy proved undiminished when "Believe" hit the airwaves. More importantly, it made people more aware of Cher's musical standing: She outlasted 99% of her contemporaries from the early '60s and her ability to entertain only grew as time passed. More than ever, we need to be reminded that its okay to have fun and there's no better person to remind us of that than Cher.

I bought this CD today at the store. I really like some of the songs, and I don't like some of the others. This is my first Cher CD so I'm not a fan or anything, in fact I don't particularly know about her much at all. But this is a good CD. I bought it for $3.99 used, and I think that's what it's worth. It's certainly not worth $14.99. If you can get it for a cheap price and you like, disco/electric music, then I think you'll like it.

Do You Believe In Life After Love...

I want to tell you people who is a Cher's fan how much I truly love her when I first heard of "Believe" at the club with my friends. I always knew I never like Cher because my family didn't know I was gay that time and when I came out of the closet when I brought my very first ex-lover and my family felt bad and they supported me and loves me no matter what and told me alot about true story about Cher about her daughter that was gay. My family was an old-fashioned and they felt that gay were sinned until I came out of the closet then I went out with friends and I heard "Believe" and I asked my friends who sang this song and they said "Cher" I was so shocked and I told my friends I loved this song so I went and bought her CD "Believe" which was my first CD I bought of hers. When my ex and I went and picked up my mother and grandmother and I forgot to take the CD out of my car but my ex and I was in a hurry because we were like 2 hours late and when my car was started and then the song called "Believe" started playing and I had to turn the music off quickly and my mother told me that she wanted to hear it so I left it on and grandmother said and asked: This song is very good who was it? and I said it was Cher and we all 3 talked about Cher's daughter being gay and my family loves Cher as much as I love Cher!! Very very sad story of my life with me and my family. I love you Cher and my family and friends and thank you all for being there for me and I cant thank you all enough for who I truly am!! LOVE YOU ALL!!!
