Okay...yeah.

Tihs would have been an AWESOME album...had Jaymz Bee done it. I am a lover and collector of swing/lounge covers of very NON Swing/Lounge songs, but this album just misses the mark with me. New Morty Show's lead male vocalist just grates on my nerves. Even Jaymz knows when not to sing! Want a VERY COOL swing/lounge cover album, try "Cocktail: Shaken & Stirred" or "Sub Urban" by Jaymz Bee, the Lounge King of Canada. He knows how to do it! :)

Mortified!

Connie Champagne has a wonderful voice, Vise Grip is one crazy guy and the band is wonderful. Songs are in Louis Prima & Keely Smith Style. "Enter Sandman" is nothing special, "White Wedding (Rebel Yell) Medley" is cool, "Caldonia" is Caldonia, but songs like "Baby What's Up", "15 Months in Jail", "Blue Martini", "Shoppin' Mall Mama","Knockin' at Your Door",... are really great. Very entertaining!

Gotta Love 'Em!

Okay, so The New Morty Show isn't your typical Swing band. In fact, at some points their dalliences into other genres is rather... unusual... but *endearing*! The listener has to look at them as their own unique entity & not expect them to fit into the usual Swing mold. If you want a band that doesn't quite fit into the box, but definitely has their boots on, this is the band for you. Cheers, Morty!

A tight hot swing combo with great vocals by Miss Champagne

I had the pleasure of seeing this band live, and this cd is typical of the material you'd hear at one of thier exciting shows. First off everyone at Music City in Huntington Beach was on the dance floor when this band played, including myself, they have an irristible drive, and they are a tight and hot swing combo, capable of good jazz solos, as well as infusing pop and rock, without compromising the thier swinging and jumping style. One of the main reasons for acquiring this cd if for the amazing vocals by Connie Champagne, she is probably the best vocalist to emerge from the whole "neo swing" movement(she can also be heard on a CD "Meet The Magnum Brutes"). Champange is best featured on her haunting original the very smokey "Blue Martini", Vise Grip also provides some energeticly wild and upbeat vocals. Morty Okin is a more than able trumpet player, who is able to cut loose and take a hot solo. The bands energy is best showed on jump tunes like "Caldonia" and the somewaht Las Vegas reminiscent(even if it'a a little loungy) "Baby What's Up." This cd may not be for swing or jazz purists, however those with an open mind, who want to listen(or dance) to a high energy fun and really tight jump swing band, should not pass this cd up, and those who are longing to hear a heavanly voice that really swings, should acquire all of the cd's Campagne appears on. A fun swing cd worth acquiring.

DOES EVERYONE WRITING IN HAVE A PERSONAL VENDETTA?

Come on! There is just alittle TOO MUCH intense hatred for this band, and the numbers are grossly tilted towards "diss-like".Sounds to me like a bunch of school boys "dissing" the band because they are getting some action! why not lay off the jealousy routine? I too listen to all the other bands this one is compared to, and I LIKE this album! I LIKE the fact that they do covers that are out of the norm-as for comments about playing this over and over again-is this the only CD you own?no CD is meant to be listened to thousands of times a day...lighten up! I have purchased my copy AFTER hearing the CD at a friend's, and would welcome the opportunity to see them live.
