  • Featuring 18 fashionable patterns that take crochet into new territory, this beginner-friendly book of projects dispels the "unhip" reputation of crochet with designs that are edgy and stylish. Projects include jewelry, thigh-high stockings, retro bags, scarves, sweaters, shrugs, camis, and home décor objects, exploring color, texture, design, embellishment, and how to customize patterns to fit personal style. Basic crochet techniques are covered along with tutorials on sizing, design, and special techniques. Up-and-coming designers are profiled throughout the book to give an entertaining and inspiring insight into this new generation of crocheters, what inspires them, how they find community with other crocheters, and creative ideas for breaking the rules and representing their individual crochet style.

    Customer Reviews:

    Good book
Customer Rating: 4 out of 5
This book is really pretty nice. It has some really nice delicate patterns that are really attractive looking. As with most books, there are few patterns that leave me wondering where the designers/editors minds were when they made them. This would include some strange looking dolls at the back, and some kindergartner-ish looking baskets. The pattern on the cover is really nice, and there is a little dress/jumper that is really cute too. There are about 4 patterns that I could see myself making, the rest are not to my liking, but the ones that are, are really pretty nice. This also includes a really adorable shrug. I don't have many crochet books, so I don't know what the competition is like, but I'd say it couldn't hurt to add this book.

    I like it!
Customer Rating: 5 out of 5
I haven't indulged my Crochet Book fetish in quite a while, so I read through the reviews and picked this one to renew my "I'm-not-going-to procrastinate-and-start-my-Christmas-presents-early" resolution.
I love this book. I have 5 nieces 23-30 years, a daughter-in-law and a few biker friends who I'd like to crochet something for this winter.
What I'll start with in this book (my favs)
    1. The Victorian Shrug/Wrap. The instructions are given so that you can do the shrug alone, which is what I'll start.
    2. The Felted Bag..love it!
    3. I'll make a few of the Plaid Scarfs...the mesh pattern looks easy...I should be able to complete a few of these in various colors during crunch time.
    4. The Comfy Cardio...very pretty and feminine.

There are a few patterns in this books that beginners would enjoy, but I think most are for Adv. Beginners and up. The patterns are pretty enough so that if you want to crochet beyond your skill level, it would be worth it to try.
    A keeper!

    wonderful patterns
Customer Rating: 5 out of 5
I really appreciate the variety of patterns in this book. It has a few projects for every adult age group. The patterns are for women & a couple of cute funky dolls to make for kids. I totally adore the babydoll dress ,victorian wrap , mesmerize sweater & leaves sweater. I haven't made the items yet but the instructions are pretty clear & there are a lot of nice pictures to help you understand how the projects progress, plus there are assembly charts & stitch diagrams. I would absolutely recommend this book to any of my friends.

cute designs - but not for a beginner
Customer Rating: 4 out of 5
i really like this book and it has helped me love crochet again - but i find most of the designs to be very challenging - above a beginners level - i wish there were more easy patterns to try. i've only tried one pattern - the short skirt. turned out just as pictured luckily - will try more in the future as i get better.

    Watch pattern measurements
Customer Rating: 3 out of 5
I had a chance to thumb through this book and ordered it for the patterns that I saw in it. I completed the wrap skirt and found that the pattern measurements were incorrect. I made it for a small person and ended up giving it to a plus size person. I plan to redo it and adjust the pattern.
