THIS BOOK,THIS SERIES IS REALLY EXCELLENT. I COULD EASILY RE-READ IT ALL.THE CHARACTERS AND THE STORY ARE RIVETTING.SO VERY WELL WRITTEN .IT GRABBED ME FROM THE START AND HELD ME TO THE LAST PAGE OF THE THIRD BOOK. I'M ANTICIPATING THE FOLLOW-UP.IF YOU LOVE ZOMBIES,YOU'LL LOVE THIS SERIES...

This trilogy is amazing

I've read oh my god, countless zombie novels. I'm just addicted to them. Anyone else out there like me knows alot of them are just cheesy, not well written and often lack depth. BUT we read them anyways and are always hungry for more lol. Now this trilogy is just an amazingly good read. The zombies are my favorite type, basic outbreak zombies. Not supernatural zombies, not thinking zombies just good ole shambling mindless hungry dead (The best kind). Now one thing I liked about her zombies are that they start out fast, sprinters (While theyre still fresh), as they rot they turn into shamblers. I hate sprinters normally, in my mind zombies are slow uncoordinated meat puppets BUT I can handle and appreciate them being sprinters until they rot. I guess cause if this sort of thing ever did happen I know my chunky butt cant outrun a sprinter so gimme shamblers any day haha. Back to the book, the character development is deep, you really get in there and identify with them. Each one coming off with unique and distinct personality. The action just keeps on coming and yet this woman pulled off consistent deep characterization without descding into an endless monochrome bloodbath. Dont get me wrong theres about neverending gore of the best kind but she has a knack for balancing that with characterization (Again something sadly not common in zombie fiction). I found myself unwilling to go to sleep it was a read-a-thon through all 3. Theres zombie books I just read for my fix then theres the rare treat of a zombie book I REALLY get into and this is one of the latter. Good job writing this.

Couldn't finish it
Customer Rating: 2 out of 5
I honestly enjoyed the first installment of this trilogy, but I couldn't even finish this book. Where the first book suffered slightly from lack of editing, this one was allowed to go completely off the rails. Suffice it to say that "she longed to be with him but still had Lydia in her heart" repeated over and over does not build interest or suspense, it builds tedium. The story was actually still enjoyable, but getting through all of the "character development" to get at it was more work than I wanted to invest. I believe that if this book had been edited down to 150 or 200 pages it would have been a winner, but as it is, there are simply more pages than there were ideas to fill them, and clumsy character interaction isn't what I'm looking for in a horror novel. Oh, and the word is "chucked." You "chuck" things over a wall. You "chuck" intestines into a bucket. "Chunked" is what Waffle House does with the ham in your scattered, smothered, topped and covered hash browns.

Good series

Very good book. I like her writing style, like the plot, and the characters. Worth reading.

Unlike most sequals this book ROCKS! Ms. Frater's books just keep getting better and better! She has created such a vivid world, her writing and characters literally pull you into their world and you SEE through their eyes. Very rarely have I had the pleasure of reading such a fun and interesting book. I couldn't put it down. Any lover of the Zombie Genre will love these books and they will find a permanent home upon their bookshelves!
