Very interesting if you think to go to another country or to the next city. Vagabonding is mostly in your head, not only in your feet. The author has it's own webpage.

I just keep coming back to this book again and again--I've probably read certain chapters half a dozen times. Rolf's book is funny, well written, practical, inspiring. It is to a traveler what a great cookbook is to a chef--he assumes you have the inclination to travel, and he's not going to teach you how, per se, but he gives you the basic instructions to get the task done, and he makes you hungry for it. I highly recommend this book to everyone from conflicted couch potatoes to globe-trotting gypsies.

Philosophy, travel tips- call it what you will. Too many people live vicariously on the travels of others. Vacation is some weird concept here in the USA, too many people pine for all year long. In this book Rolf gives you bountiful resources, now it is up to YOU, saddle up and go for the ride of your life. It's amazing what the road of life will teach you. Hard knocks and all!

This doesnt give a lot of specific advice but its not necessary. The uniqueness of travel is the details that each person experiences on their journey. I have traveled to all but 2 continents and I agree with 95% of this book. It is a remarkable take on traveling long term to foreign countries from a western perspective. There are so many enlightening quotes and advice its well worth the purchase, i have lent it to several friends and they all seemed to enjoy it quite a bit.

Doesn't really focus on practical information. A whole lot of 'the essence' of vaganbonding kinda stuff here peppered with personal anecdotes that sometimes come off a little self-serving. Not bad, jusr wasn't what I expected.
