All I can say is that this book was absolutely FUN! I have a hard time reading books all the way through, as I get bored. However, this book kept my attention the whole time, and I couldn't put it down. I am officially a huge Dave Benbow fan now, and can't wait to start reading Male Model.

I slogged through this book in a week and it drove me nuts. Entire paragraphs dedicated to describing the wood on the floor. Designer names flung around like no one's business and a cast of superficial, static and totally shallow creatures all living in a world where a person's outer beauty was a clear indicator of their inner beauty, just like in real life, right? There was a guilty pleasure factor with this book no doubt, but I think if you want a real read there are several other authors with much richer and significant voices. Michael Thomas Ford off the top of my head. Real characters with faults and limitations dealing with real problems. These people in this book lived lives which were just too good to be true which, much as I tried, I couldn't get past. I hate shallowness in the real world and I don't much care for it in my fiction either.

Dave Benbow's first novel is as equally good as his more recent second novel, "Male Model." The characters are well developed (in more ways than one), especially Travis and Clay. And the sex scenes...girls hold on to your belt buckles! Didn't realize when I bought it that it was a mystery. The plot line was terrific as were the subplots. In addition to all of the gay goings on, there was a transexual and a murderer and even a straight couple who were very supportive of the gay characters. Lots of little twists that were however somewhat predictable. I read this one on a flight from Los Angeles to Washington DC. I am rapidly becoming a fan of Benbow's work and look forward to, not only his next story (and whatever HOT book jacket they come up with this time)to the day when I meet him on the street in WeHo and thank him for some very entertaining reads! Highly recommend this one!

Having spent many afternoon fantasizing that my favorite soap actors were playing for my team, I decided this book would indeed be a must read. I was not the least bit disappointed, but enraptured by the thought that my fantasies may be actual realities for someone out there. The characters in the novel are outrageously fun and likeable. The writing is light hearted and simple to read. The plot draws the reader in and makes the pages fly by. (Either that, or the anticipation of the next sex scene. I have to admit I wish I could have joined in with Travis and Clay. Well, in my own way I did) Anyway, I digress. If you want to spend a couple of hours thoroughly enjoying yourself, and then pick up this fun book, you will not be disappointed.

DAYTIME DRAMA is simply a good book. As a reader, I found myself very much involved in the "lives" of the characters. The story line, a murder mystery, love story, and a "small world/coincident" story combined, makes for fast paced reading and a sense of satisfaction for the reader. Clay, Travis, Dru, Park, Kurt, and a host of other distinctly HOLLYWOOD CHARACTERS make for a delightfully sassy read. Seeing the "bad guys" get their due was also fun...especially the way in which "justice" was rendered. Cleverly written, this book will bring you several hours of reading pleasure.
