The New York Times bestseller and ultimate beach read from the author of Second Chance
Nan Powell is a free-spirited, sixty-five-year-old widow who's not above skinny-dipping in her neighbors' pools when they're away and who dearly loves her Nantucket home. But when she discovers that the money she thought would last forever is dwindling, she realizes she must make drastic changes to save her beloved house. So Nan takes out an ad: Rooms to rent for the summer in a beautiful old Nantucket home with water views and direct access to the beach.
Slowly people start moving in to the house, filling it with noise, laughter, and with tears. As the house comes alive again, Nan finds her family and friends expanding. Her son comes home for the summer, and then an unexpected visitor turns all their lives upside down. As she did so masterfully in her New York Times bestseller Second Chance, Jane Green once again proves herself one of the preeminent writers of contemporary women's fiction.

I just had to write and say that I really am loving this book (after I read some of the horrible reviews, that I just don't understand where they came from? are we reading a different book?) I'm in love with Nantucket, I want to live there so bad, right in Nan's house:) I feel like I KNOW the characters personally, and I'm looking forward to seeing how it all ends up (I'm at the part where Evan has shown up....won't say anymore about it for those who have yet to read it!)

I was hoping for a fun, easy, interesting beach read, but it was nothing more than a hollow, uninteresting bore. I stuck with it until it became obvious that this book was never going to make up for the time I had lost reading the first half. I should have put it down when I noticed the lazy grammar error on the first page.

This entire book is a cliche. You won't be surprised or intrigued by a single outcome. It's written from various points of view, and yet every character's voice is exactly the same. At 200 pages in, you still won't be hooked. This is the kind of mindless read I recommend when you want a break from more complex and interesting novels. This is the kind of book you could take to the beach and accidentally leave there and never once wonder what happened to the characters.

The Beach House was my first Jane Green book and I truly enoyed it. I loved the characters and I felt like I spent my summer in Nantucket. I would definitely recommend it.
