When you have to kill the same terrorist twice in one week there's either something wrong with your world or something wrong with your skills... and there's nothing wrong with Joe Ledger's skills. And that's both a good, and a bad thing. It's good because he's a Baltimore detective that has just been secretly recruited by the government to lead a new taskforce created to deal with the problems that Homeland Security can't handle. This rapid response group is called the Department of Military Sciences or the DMS for short. It's bad because his first mission is to help stop a group of terrorists from releasing a dreadful bio-weapon that can turn ordinary people into zombies. The fate of the world hangs in the balance....

I am a HUUUUGE fan of anything and everything zombie and I spent alot of time thinking about purchasing this book before I actualy did. I didnt want to waste my money on something that had little to do with zombies. well I did end up buying it and it did end up being a total waste of money. The book had more to do with the darn terrorist/DMS/marital arts than it did zombies. I struggled to get through it in hopes that it would redeem itself in some way...it didnt. The dialogue was boring and in some instances totally random. Basically if you really are into zombies and all the death mayhem and destruction that comes with them dont bother with this book because it will only disappoint

I had the pleasure to meet and shake hands with Jonathan Maberry a couple of weeks ago at Horror Realm in Pittsburgh. I got lucky enough to also get into his author panel. During the Q&A I got to ask him about the whole Robert Howard thing and all in all it was a very good time. His reading from Dragon Factory was fantastic and made me want to rush out and buy it. A friend of mine bought me a copy of Patient Zero with the exclamation that if I liked zombies I NEEDED to read this book. So having gotten to meet the man himself and with book in hand i dove into it.
This books was fantastic. It is a well told story with plenty of plot twists and the tiny chapters were very fun. I had a great time with this book and I enjoyed it very much. Like the Author, this book Rules!
If your into zombies, if your into super-spy novels, if your into action movies and you haven't read this book yet go out and buy it right now. It is worth every single penny. You wont regret it for a single second.
In fact, your going to love it.

This book was an action/thriller with a touch of horror and secret government organization stuff. Plenty of bad [...] and interesting ideas. The zombies arent the main focus, but there are plenty of action with them. After speaking with Mr. Maberry, i found the book more realistic as he used real research into writing it along with actual government studies, including end of the world stuff like zombies. Hard to believe, but yes the government has a somewhat prepared way to handle such an event.

The book was impossible to put down and creepy as hell. It's like eating scary candy -you just can't stop. If they ever do a comic book on this I'll order extra copies for my store. Is an excellent read that will keep you on the edge of your seat with your face in this book from start to finish.
These ones also kept me spooked all night long:
VARNISS THE VAMPIRE: A ROMANCE OF BLOOD
The House of the Vampire
Dracula: The Original Bloody Masterpiece
Frankenstein
Famous Modern Ghost Stories: Selected by Dr. Dorothy Scarborough of Columbia University

as a fan of all things zombies, i really enjoyed patient zero. this book was lent to me by a good friend, after reading it i have purchased it for myself, and for a friend who also loves zombies (and happens to be a zombie author himself). I'm not sure there could be a better recommendation than buying multiple copies of the same book.
