| May crack your Kindle |

This cover is dangerous to your Kindle. The metal hooks cause cracks at the connecting points. What began as hairline cracks grew into well defined cracks. Amazon replaced my first Kindle. Now, in less than two weeks. hairline cracks are beginning to once again show their ugly presence. I should have checked out these reviews before I reused this cover.

Pros:
1. Designed specifically for the kindle 2 so it fits well
2. Well constructed, good finish feels and smells like real leather
3. The kindle does not jut out on any of the edges or corners, so should be well protected if it falls (see cons below)
4. Decent padding on the inside - no rough spots to scratch the screen
5. It has latches along the spine that hook securely into 2 slots on the inner edge of the kindle - simple instructions on how to accomplish this
6. Looks smart and stylish - I actually saw a friend carrying this around and was so impressed that I ordered it
7. Enables kindle to be comfortably placed on a book holder, like an open book - I find this very helpful and use it extensively to reduce neck strain while reading at a desk
8. Front flap can be folded back to allow one-handed reading
Cons:
1. An outside latch to keep it securely closed would have been useful. As it is, if it falls open and face down, the kindle could be damaged. Hopefully, such an event would be unlikely to occur
2. If you pull the wrong flap open, it comes up with the full weight of the kindle hanging by the center clips since there are no restraints along the sides or corners. I suppose this could damage either the hinges or the kindle itself if it happens repeatedly
3. Somewhat pricey

I really like this Kindle Cover. I like how the Kindle snaps in firmly and how nice it looks and how the Leather is pretty sturdy, but still looks nice. I would recommend to a friend any day. In fact, I bought it because a friend recommended it to me. The only thing I wish it had is a clasp or something to keep it closed as it can fall open and I worry about scratches in my purse. Other than that, it's great!

When I got my cover I was very pleased with it. There was one thing I noticed though, that had me concerned. When opening it up, it wasn't unusual for the Kindle inside to flap outwards, putting stress on the metal clips holding it in at the binding. My concern was that the clips would bend. After reading other consumer complaints about it I found that the clips don't bend, but instead the plastic body of the Kindle cracks. This purchase was made to protect my Kindle, and instead I'm afraid it's going to be the very thing that breaks it. I broke down and ordered a new cover, one that had elastic bands on the corner to prevent the Kindle from flapping outward. I haven't gotten it in yet, but I'm hoping that solves the problem. As far as this cover, it was a waist of my money...

The Kindle reader is very convenient. You can fold the cover back for compact reading.
