I think this is one those albums where every song is catchy, unique, and worth listening to. Another reviewer listed songs they thought were the best on the album, but my current favorites are actually all the ones he/she didn't list. Basically what I'm getting at is that there are no filler songs.
The band's style is pretty eclectic: piano ballads with poppish rock elements that sound like an amalgamation of 80's and contemporary music. Also, Clayton Stroope, the lead singer of the band, sounds like a high tenor version of Bon Jovi or a raspier version of Claudio from Coheed and Cambria. I usually don't take the time to write reviews on albums and books, but this is such a unique and quality band that I was compelled to do it in this case.
Also, check out a band called SafetySuit. It's a more straight-up pop rock style group, but their "Life Left to Go" is another top-to-bottom amazing album.

I'll start off by saying this: I'm a music fanatic. Music is like the blood in my veins - without it, I don't know how I'd get through the day. From when work starts at 8:00 AM until when it ends at 5:00 PM, I listen to music while going about my day. I've listened to thousands (literally) of albums in my life, and liked a lot of them. However, I've only ever loved a few of them, and this is one of those special few. I mention this so that you'll get an idea where I'm coming from when reading this review.
From the moment I heard the opening chords on the first track until the fadeout on the final one, I knew this was something special, and it's now near the top of my "most listened to" albums. A lot of people are trying their best to compare the sound of Thriving Ivory to that of other bands, which I think is somewhat of a shame. One of the truly great things about this album is that I haven't heard something like this in a long time. It's music that harkens back to the days when music was written to speak directly to that place deep inside us all that is just waiting for something to awaken it. The vocals, while "raspy," are soft, clean, and always easy to understand. The music is spot-on, and compliments those vocals as well as I can imagine. While the track "Angels on the Moon" is probably what this album is currently best-known for, I can say without hesitation that every single track here is of equal or greater quality than that single.
If you're in search of some more of the mundane din that's so often played on the radio these days, you may want to look elsewhere; this album isn't probably for you. However, if you're willing to listen with more than just your ears, you're in for a 48-minute musical experience the likes of which hasn't been heard in a long time.

I kept hearing Angels on the Moon on the radio and really liked the song and the voice. I went to buy the song on iTunes, but they had the whole album at a cheap price, so on a whim I bought all their songs. At first it was one of those CD's that you can take or leave, I didn't hate it, didn't love it, but since I really liked the first three songs, I would end up listening to the whole CD quite often. Now I like all the songs and gladly go through the whole CD. This is definitely not hard rock, I hate screeching guitars and nonsense lyrics. There are good rhythms and beats throughout the whole CD and the words have meaning....best of all there is no RAP! Waiting for their next CD now.
