Modern home theater components contain microprocessors, hard drives, and delicate circuitry that can be easily and irreversibly damaged by blackouts and large power fluctuations. The PureAV Battery Backup maintains constant power delivery to your components ensuring that the memory, settings, and recordings on all of your equipment will be saved in the event of a blackout, brownout, or other large - or small - voltage fluctuations.Over time small voltage fluctuations can cause damage to sensitive home theater equipment. Most battery backup units switch to battery backup mode only if a power outage occurs. This leaves your home theater unprotected from constant voltage sags and surges that can damage your equipment. For this reason, the PureAV Battery Backup employs Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) Technology to maintain voltage at a constant level without the use of the battery. PureAV's AVR Technology constantly corrects for small voltage fluctuations to provide stable, clean power to all of your equipment. If a power outage occurs, the PureAV Battery Backup switches to battery backup mode until power is restored.Unrivaled quality and proven technology combined with elegant, simple styling are the hallmarks of the PureAV Battery Backup. The PureAV Battery Backup adds a sleek accent, whether placed alongside your home theater equipment or mounted in a professional AV equipment rack, and provides you with optimal control and protection of your AV components.

I ordered this to replace a standard computer UPS which I had kept behind my AV equipment cabinet. I thought it would be nice to have a unit that would go in the cabinet and look more like a piece of AV equipment.
I was very disappointed when the first one arrived DOA and charging overnight made no difference. However, Amazon's return policy on defective merchandise made it painless to get a replacement (I was able to print a pre-paid UPS label, and had 30 days to get the defective unit back to them, and meanwhile Amazon shipped a replacement unit to me via next day air [which is how I had the original shipped]).
The replacement unit has worked perfectly. I have not noticed any hum as mentioned by other reviewers. The unit is powering a 55 inch HDTV (rear projection), a Denon 3801 (7.1), a Dish HD DVR, a Dish switch, a VCR, an Apple TV, a Klipsch Sub woofer, a DVD recorder, and a DVD player (surge only) and still is only using 67% of available power.
All in all, it is a very nice unit at a good price.

This works so far just as I hoped. It's quiet. So far we've only had one black out to test it and it seems good. Though it is very heavy so make sure it's on a sturdy shelf!
The packaging was a bit messed up in delivery but item was fine. I am very happy!

| Battery power is off the scale (almost 140 Volts instead of 120) |

I have PureAV PF60 (Highly recommended Belkin product) that is supposed to monitor the voltage level and disconnect equipment once it is outside of safe parameters. When I connect PF60 to the AP30800 and the battery kicks in, the power meter goes from normal 120V to 140V and my PF60 shuts off all connected equipment. I am pretty sure that if I connect the equipment to AP30800, it will work on battery power, the question is, will it do more damage than good. I got no helpful answer from Belkin support, they just recommended turning the unit off and on. You decide if you can risk expensive equipment to be damaged by excessive battery voltage output. I am sending my unit back. Save your money, and buy a good APC A/V unit.

This is a great product and Amazon's price is HARD TO BEAT!
Pros:
- Display on front of unit tells you the current battery power and the load power
- The unit is very sturdy
- 8 total outlets, 6 of which are battery backup
- Great surge protection
- Test feature if very easy to use!
Cons:
(Minor)
- The end of the power cord SHOULD be flat, and not the typical PC cord. It would have made placement of the unit easier.
- Some PC connectivity would be nice (Or even an ON SCREEN DISPLAY using a simple video cable) to program the unit for specific shut down instructions
Overall this is a great unit and I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to protect their home theatre components!
