| An Average Roadtrip Album : Tiffany at the Crossroads |

As a long time admirer of the work of Tiffany Darwish, I can't honestly give this record anything more than three stars. I am sure that Tiffany herself knows that this is, at best, a three star album, which is why the rave reviews and five star ratings here are baffling. There is not even half the talent that Tiffany displayed in 2000's "The Color of Silence" on show here, and the dull, plodding melodies are a far cry from that album as well.
What is really telling is the fact that they chose to re-record one of the weaker tracks from "The Color of Silence", entitled 'I Will Not Breakdown', and tag it on as the final track on this album. It is pure filler, and doesn't really do much for the entire package as a whole.
"Just Me", of course, never really went on to become a success in any part of the world, leave alone the United States, and this is becoming quite a habit for Tiffany, who, despite a solid return to form a few years earlier, has been floundering career-wise. Especially abominable was her 'dance' album called "Dust Off and Dance" from 2005, which to date remains her most ludicrous and idiotic experiment.
As a huge Tiffany supporter, of course I went out and bought this, but it is in no way a classic Tiffany album - only because the songs themselves are such weak melodies. The 'best' of the bunch is "Winter's Over", which I like due to its more mature lyrics, and a gorgeous vocal performance from Tiffany. The song is beautiful - think of it as a classic accompaniment to her 2000 ballad "If Only". But the good ends there. Lead single "Feels Like Love" is downright trashy, devoid of any personality or soul, and is a pathetic 'comeback single', or single in general. I never thought I would indulge in 'Tiffany-bashing', but seriously, I WANT this woman to have a hit. Releasing these disgustingly boring songs with no meter or 'hit' quality, and no remote sense of melody, will only serve to reiterate the theory that she is 'past her prime'. Please Tiffany, review the songs that come your way before recording them. PLEASE.
"Feels Like Love", besides easily being the No. 1 worst song in Tiffany's entire back-catalog (yes, even worse than the embarrassing "Mr. Mambo") also has a music video (if you can find it) - this video is famous for all the wrong reasons - you have Miss Darwish coyly sitting on a sofa letting her massive, humungous mammary glands hang out unabashedly, while crooning a 'pure love song' to her new beau. I personally found it repulsive, revolting, and bannable.
"Just Me" is not bad - its just that its not very good either. When it soars, it soars on exactly one song ("Winter's Over"). When it falls, it falls hard. Either the people giving this mediocre album are hugely delusional Tiffany fans with no ear for music, or perhaps I don't know what I'm talking about. Either way, this album was a disappointment for me. I'm giving this two and a half stars on five - and even that, in retrospect, seems generous.
Check out Tiffany's truly good albums - "The Color of Silence" from 2000, and the underrated "Dreams Never Die" from 1995 (re-released in 2006)

Very nice album and probably one her best! I especially enjoyed the words and guitar accompaniment by Gene Reeves on "Just Me" and "Be Alright".

i will tell you now, 'winter's over' will be one of the best over looked song of 2007. tiffany gets my total respect for this tune. it is amazing.

i think anyone, even someone who wasn't around "back in the day" when tiff was the rage would enjoy this collection of grown-up, but still young and hip songs. i just saw her in concert and she was as incredible as ever, the voice is as strong and moving as ever

I've been a Tiffany fan since the beginning of her career. When I found out that she was releasing this album, and writing some of the songs, I was very excited to hear it. I just loved her previous cd "Color of Silence", so I couldn't wait to hear her new stuff. When I finally got the CD I wasn't disappointed. What a great CD. The songs on this CD really show Tiffany's great vocal skills. I particularly like the songs Just Me, Be Alright, and Mind Candy.
I recently had the opportunity to see Tiffany live, and I must say her voice is terrific. Her vocal range and performance enthusiam made for a great show. Afterward I had the opportunity to meet Tiffany, and she was so genuine and warm. This lady is truly a talented singer and a nice person. I can't wait to hear more from her in the future.
