  • Eureka vacuums are designed to clean and protect tile and sealed hardwood floors in your home. They have deluxe bare floor brushes designed to smoothly glide across your floor while picking up more dust and debris in corners and along baseboards than regular models. Replacement bag: Eureka Style RR. Replacement belt: Eureka Style R. Replacement HEPA filter: Eureka Style HF2. Dimensions: 12" x 11" x 45". Weight: 21 lbs. Power: 12 amps. Cord length: 30 ft.

Let's face it. Most vacuums just don't cut it when it comes to really cleaning a home or office. Pesky pet hair embeds deeper in carpet than traditional vacuums go; bits and pieces of tracked-in dirt and debris hunker down under floor trim just out of reach of the latest brush innovations, rendering us to the silliness of handpicking behind that expensive vacuum, filling our pockets with lint, and wondering-who's really the boss? Troubles like these made the folks at Eureka get down and dirty and, ultimately, design the Boss Smart-Vac Upright Vacuum.

Offering powerful performance for everyday household cleaning, the Eureka Boss is the solution for people who insist on having a truly clean home. The Boss's Direct Air Control System features an air selector switch that lets you direct all suction either deep into the carpet or to the hose for easy above-the-floor cleaning. The Power Paw brush makes it easy to clean stairs and upholstery, and even claws up embedded pet hair, so Fido can spend more time inside. The motorized brush lets you go from carpet- to bare floor-cleaning with the flick of a switch. The Boss Smart-Vac is powered by a beefy, 12-amp motor that provides plenty of suction power for deep cleaning carpets, and leaves nothing behind on hard floors.

Pretty smart; right? Well, here's the really smart part. The Boss Smart-Vac isn't just the best household carpet- and floor-cleaning vacuum on the market; it's also equipped with a unique, sealed HEPA filtration system that captures 99.97 percent of dust, pollen, allergens, and bacteria. So, vacuuming the house doesn't mean you have to dust afterward, or sneeze while you're doing it. Cleaner carpets and cleaner indoor air at the same time!

Plus, the Boss is loaded with user-friendly features to take the frustration out of vacuuming. A wide cleaning path covers a lot of ground quickly before company comes. And, unlike inferior models, the Boss is designed with a brush-view window that shows you how hard it's working, letting you actually see the powerful brush roller remove dirt from carpets and floors. The exclusive dust trap system captures debris and dust in three stages. A handy stretch hose extends to five times its original length for reaching around furniture and sucking the cobwebs off the ceiling. And, a 30-foot cord won't leave you coming up short. The bare floor brush is designed to smoothly glide across wood and tile floors while picking up more dust and debris in corners and along baseboards than any other model. --Brian Olson

    very poor design
Customer Rating: 1 out of 5
i was looking for a portable stair vac here. i'm going to try the eureka 71b... anyway, i came across this vac in my search. i usually dont have time to waste on the internet writing anything but, i own this vac and hate it. i had to let you people know..
the hose attachment : the worst part of this vac. at the point of connection is the hard plastic wand and the flexhose that goes into the vac. well on the flex end it is a softer rubber that goes over your hard plastic hose wand instead of two hard pieces connecting ea. other like most vacs . you will have a very hard time getting the softer end over the wand for a good connection. and if you do , it will only go on 1/2 " and will come apart often.dont believe me ? as soon as you get this vac home, try doing it then you can take it back right away !!!!!!! it is not just my vac i checked more of them. i am 6' 4" 250 lbs and strong. i could not believe how stupid this design was !!
second : the front lower filter is not sealed. its open air with air flow going thru it. result : you smell everything you're sucking up.
3rd : the unit is heavy and bulky .

i am not going to read the reviews on here. i like doing my research though, on the things i buy which i didnt do for this. as far as the positives on here, to each his own but probably alot of eureka company people posting..... just for you. i am not offering you another brand. just giving you info to use to make your choice..

carpet brush does not turn off
Customer Rating: 2 out of 5
I gave the vacuum as a Christmas Gift. The suction is really good, however the carpet brush will not disengage to do bare floors. I selected this model primarily to do both types of floors. I have been having trouble getting in contact with Eureka, but will keep trying.............more later

    Excellent Vac
Customer Rating: 5 out of 5
The Eureka Boss works great! Do not hesitate to purchase this product. It does everything it says it does, great suction. It's a little difficult to put back in its upright position, but this is the only downside I've seen. Great price for the quality!

    A great vacuum!

I bought this after researching on consumer reports and I'm so glad I did. It works great, has lasted >3 years so far with no decrease in sucking power. Gets the dog hair out of my carpet and makes it look like new - easy as pie! I'd have to agree with others about 2 small flaws: foot lever is tough to use and hose could be longer but really I couldn't ask for more!

Great vacuum for pet owners with carpet
Customer Rating: 4 out of 5
I replaced my Kirby Legend II with the Eureka 4870 Boss after having severe problems with pet hair fouling the Kirby brush roll. The Eureka absolutely devours dog hair off carpet. We have short and medium pile carpet, plus some hard floors. The switch for the brushroll is handy when running the vac in the kitchen, however, the air blowing out the HEPA filter in front of the vac scatters hair and dust. The suction through the hose is adequate (though nothing like the Kirby or a good canister) and it reaches a fair distance. Using this vac for a year has shown a couple of bad points. The hose falls out of its storage clips and gets in the way. Handling is awkward and the bags are small, filling quickly with dog hair. Minor issues. The Eureka 4870 is a darn good value for its price, and seems to be built well enough to last a few years of regular use.
