It was a cloudy, rainy, and cold day and I was praying that my flight out of San Francisco International would get off on time. I was tired from my business trip and the only thing on my mind was for me to get home and to sleep in my own bed. As the plane lift off, it bellowed through the thick clouds to reach its desired altitude. To my surprise, the sun was shining above the clouds. I realized that day, regardless of how dreary and gloomy a day might get, the sun always shines above the clouds.

The Sun Always Shines Above the Clouds is the type of book that makes me feel as though I don't really have anything to complain about in my life.
Author Claudette Smith courageously details her childhood which includes abuse, being moved from family to family and basically being ignored. How horrible it must have been to be a young child and then a teenager and living this kind of life - to know that you do not really have any roots.
Yet, Smith manages to grow up to be a contented, happy person. This is the story of her journey and it is quite heartwarming. No matter what happens in her life, she always manages to find the "good side" of a situation and manages to smile through it all.
Although I am encouraged and slightly in awe of Smith, I also have to wonder if all of this "contentment" is real or if it is masking something much,much deeper. Yet, part of me believes that this person has somehow come out the other end -richer and deeper for her horrible experiences as a child.
The book is well written with honesty and a rawness that I could actually feel. This is a good read for anybody who wants to believe that you CAN overcome.

We all need a bit of inspiration when our life seems to be bleak. This is one of those stories that make you grateful for the blessings in your life and also make you look at those around you to see if you can somehow be a blessing in theirs. I would recommend this book to anyone.

This is simply a great book! With each turn of the page I was further entralled and wanted to know more about the character, what was going to happen to her and how she was going to keep plugging through her next disappointment, betrayal and difficult experience.
No matter what she goes through, in the end, she remains true to herself and is determined to do what she has to do to make for a better life for herself. It is exciting to read of all of her disappointments and sorrows, but to also learn about how she was able to move forward.
I enjoyed this book very much and will likely read it again and again.

Reading through, The Sun Always Shines Through the Clouds left me feeling like I was walking alongside Claudette through her entire narration. This is such an honest and heart filled autobiography, that was at times so uninhibited and honest that I wondered if there was nothing the authoress was afraid to confront.
Reading how Claudette changed as she grew was a privilege, this was certainly a young lady that grew up to be a very proud and strong woman despite all the obstacles in her life. Through every relationship Claudette never forgot what it was she wanted or where she was going.
The Sun Always Shines is a one of a kind autobiography that will benefit many readers.

What an amazing story. She has truly reigned over the tragedy in her life. She sees life in such a positive light even after everything she has been through. I started this book and could not put it down, even though it was 4 am. I totally recommend this book to anyone.
