I just proudly finished my first reading of Dave Ogilvie III's The Golfer's Dream and found it highly enjoyable both in the author's to the point writing style and informational content. A life-long player of 45 years, I was able to understand and visualize his concepts and looking forward to putting a few of his suggestions and techniques to work. My goal is to keep it simple and seems I was already performing many of the fundamentals. Although I may have peaked many years ago, certainly working on a better finish, better balance and an inside to out swing should certainly help. It was consoling to hear from Dave that the majority of my distance and swing speed was most likely set many years ago, at least that explains the inability to hit it 275 yards!!
I had the privilege of receiving instruction in my junior days from Dave's father, David Ogilvie, Jr. at the Jefferson-Lakeside Club in Richmond. He had many classic stories that are still remembered of the golf pro's from the 1920's and 30's. Tom Barry, our current Professional at Lakeside was Dave's Assistant at Flossmoor prior and I can also attest that he certainly is the most dedicated employee and we have been blessed to have him as well as David Ogilvie, Jr. as our head golf professionals.
I highly recommend The Golfer's Dream: A Dictionary of Golf's Woes and Cures for a good summary of the game's technique.

Dave Ogilivie III's written lessons will, without question, fix your game. Simple and effective solutions simple enough for the high handicappers to understand and learn from, solid enough for those at the other end of the spectrum.
He covers the mental and physical aspects of the game as well as anyone can do in print. THe book can be read topic by topic, no need for a front to back read.
I have known Dave since the 60's so my review is obviosly biased. The lessons, however, are the same I was given as a youth. Dave taught many young golfers over the ages and produced some very fine
golfers. A real gentleman and first rate teacher continuosly sought by the Chicago golfing crowd.
