Spring Fashion Trend 2007

As nature transitions to spring and summer, fashion follows its lead with plenty of opportunities for wardrobe freshness and renewal. Here are a few of our favorites:

Shift into Neutral
Neutral colors are nothing new in fashion. They have always provided a foundation for each season's new accents. This season, neutrals take center stage. Cream, all shades of khaki and beige, and the newest for spring, grey, become a deceptively simple, yet sophisticated way of dressing head to toe. Vary the tones and textures (a light khaki shirt with a darker khaki slack) to bring life and interest to monochromatic dressing.

Amazing Greys
With an emphasis on neutrals this season, grey, that traditional standby of a man's winter wardrobe, hits the light of day this spring. Wear either monochromatically or as a backdrop for the vivid blues, turquoise and corals that are the season's big accents. Even jeans and accessories, aren't immune from the fact that grey matters.

A Call to Arms
Once relegated to the realm of geekdom, the short sleeve dress shirt becomes sleek and sophisticated. The key is fit, tapered through the torso with a slimmer sleeve width. The sleeve length should hit mid bicep, any longer and you might as well add a pocket protector, any shorter and you're trying too hard. Another reason to load your guns is the relaxed tank top. Cut wider at the shoulders and a little relaxed through the torso, it's a great way to keep your cool and your sophistication.

The Bermuda Angle
In a trend that started last year, the tailored short really sets sail this summer. Cut just above the knee and trim through the leg, the dressier short is now a wardrobe basic. When done in premium fabrics and paired with a crisp short sleeve shirt and a thin belt, you've hit the key look in summer fashion.

Washed, Raw and Lived-in
Style and comfort should always lead in fashion, but even more so in spring and summer. Natural fabrics, with their inherent breathability, are now often pre-washed and/or distressed for a comfortable lived in feel. Linens and paper-thin cottons are staples. Add a pair of distressed canvas sandals or sneaker and you are ready to beat the heat and look put together doing it.
