Greeted by a red glowing and glittering arrow overhead, one immediately knows that they’ve reached the heart of Boystown, Chicago’s closest thing to a red light district, as they approach Cocktail. Sometimes welcomed by a drag hostess (often Chicago Cher or Miss Floozie), patrons enter a sort of progressive house pub where go-go boys frequently ascend the bar room floor, usually on Tuesday and Thursday nights.
Exposed brick offers a contrast to the large wooden bar that centers the space while velvet curtains frame the storefront windows. Perched on the corner of the neighborhood's most traversed intersection, the window space often fills up with people watchers, sometimes gawkers.
Popular with an out-of-college to middle-aged crowd, the patrons are mostly gay men, a few straight friends mixed in. With more of a progressive pub feel than mega nightclub, the management boasts live DJ’s five nights a week. Most popular nights are the go-go boy Tuesdays and Thursdays with an extension of the box dancers to some weekend nights.

One of my favorite bars on Halsted.. Great music, great cocktails and really hot strippers.. I found the beautiful bartenders to be really friendly.

First time there the other night was great-- lots of energy, friendly people, little attitude amongst guests and just a great time. Biggest drawback: drink prices and bartenders charging different prices for the same drink. At the end of the night a glass of tap water cost me $4.

Cocktail has been a great bar for years but has recently attracted the cute twink crowd since the closing of Felt.
Great beers on draft, cute guys, fun-to-watch go-go boys. Very social crowd. Great house music.

This is a great neighborhood spot to meet and relax with friends. The people watching from the large Halsted-view windows is much fun.

Cocktail is in the heart of Boys Town and It's a great place to meet up with friends and actually hear each others conversations. I go there often. The decor is done in good taste and the people that work there are very friendly.
