previous reviews have it exactly right, Very good value all around. Great location. Friendly professional staff ; Also has a food/juice bar. The space is surprisingly large once inside, and invites a workout focus! Equipment is good & plenty of free weights & machines. Small caveat .... there could be a bit more lighting in parts ? Changing room fairly spacious, with large size lockers [ one time visitors bring or buy a lock . Overall grade A !

In today's "cram 'em in and walk away" gym attitude, Quads Gym is a rare find.
It is a gym that takes itself seriously, but not at the expense of it's partons. The staff is freiendly and, most important of all, knowledgeable. If you want a good trainer, GO HERE. Don't waste your time at the "trendy" gyms. They are all fluff and for the most part, staffed with inept, vain and lazy people.
Quads is more bang for your buck and in the long run, a better gym over all. This is proven by it's longevity in the game. Can these other so-called gyms say that?

I've been a member since June of 2005 and can honestly say that this gym is the best, dollar for dollar, anywhere in Chicago. If you care more about ambience than you do about physical results, go elsewhere. I don't know where the other reviewer comes from when he says the locker rooms and facilities are dirty, they're both far from it. This gym is no-nonsense as is the staff. It's a nice reminder of what gyms used to be before they became politically correct.

This gym is awesome. I have been going for a year and if you want to add muscle get big, this is the place to go! Other gyms seem only to be all show.

This gym opened back in the early 80's as a body builders haven. Today it hasn't changed a bit. The equipment is almost vintage in every way. Even the carpet is (whats left of it)original. Its a place that has no heat in the winter and no A/C in the summer. Its hard core.
The gym has some potencial. If only it was clean, free of all the dirt, dust, mold, etc of over 20 yrs of use have deposited. New flooring would help alot since that is where everything settles (a good vaccume cleaning every 20 years would even be an improvement)
Don't bothere with the locker rooms and showers. They have not seen a cleaning crew in a decade. Just change, work out and go.
Take a look at the little cubbie bear hanging from the ceiling bound and gaged. And only 2 or 3 blocks from Wriggley.
It was a great place, 24 years ago.
